Sir Isaac Newton (25 December 1642 – 20 March 1727) was an English physicist and mathematician. He was one of the most influential scientists of all time. Newton built the first practical reflecting telescope and developed a theory of colour. He also formulated an empirical law of cooling and studied the speed of sound. As a mathematician Newton contributed to the study of power series (как математик Ньютон уделял внимание изучению рядов степеней), and developed Newton's method for approximating the roots of a function. There is a fact that Newton was inspired to formulate his theory of gravitation by falling apples from a tree in his garden. Newton never married, and no evidence has been uncovered that he had any romantic relationship.

I’d like to tell you about Evgeny Paton — Soviet scientist in electric welding and bridge building. He was born in France in 1870 end died in Ukraine in 1953. He was born in the family of a Russian consul and had five brothers and two sisters.
He studied at the Dresden Technical University and at the Petersburg Institute of Railway Roads. He designed the structure of the train station in Dresden. Later Paton became the Chairman of the Bridge Department. In 1934 Evgeny Paton founded the Electric Welding Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Ukrainian Sovier Social Republic in Kiev.
Eugeny Paton was one of the first researchers of the new joining – welding technology for the materials. Among many other creations he created methods of design of rational bridge spans and suggested the methods to restore the damaged bridges. And during the World War II Paton supervised the design and production of the equipment and technology of the automatic welding of special steels, tanks, bombs, etc. His contribution to the victory of Soviet Union in this war can not be underestimated.

I'd like to tell you about such an outstanding person as Mikhail Lomonosov.
As far as I know he is the father of the Russian sciences and a great poet, the founder of Russian literature. Lomonosov was born in 1711 in Arhangelsk province. He liked to spend his time fishing with his father. He began to read himself then he was a little boy. He wanted to study and when he was 19 he went by foot to Moscow. He decided to enter the Slavic-Greek-Latin academy. He entered it and six years later in 1736 he was sent abroad to complete his studies in chemistry and mining. Lomonosov worked hard and he became a great scientist. He was a physicist, a painter and astronomer, a geographer, a historian and a statesman. Lomonosov made a telescope; he observed a lot of stars and planets with his telescope. Lomonosov wrote the first scientific grammar of Russian language. He wrote many poems. Lomonosov build a factory near Petersburg. It was a factory where glass was produced. He made a portrait of Peter I of pieces of glass. Lomonosov was the founder of the first Russian University.
