The 17th century was the time of the development of various branches of science. The new mood was established by Francis Bacon. He has a wide range of scholarly interests. His goal was synthesis of scientific knowledge. Francis Bacon discovered the new world of science to his contemporaries. His definition of scientific method is still relevant nowadays and stimulates the development of science. New method of research was introduced at that time. According to this method, scientific ideas are tested by experiment. In the 17th century scientists put this theory into practice. People studied the universe, developing new branches of science. By 17th Galileo Galilei, Rene Decartes, Isaac Newton and other scientists clarified the principles of machine work. Galileo Galilei worked with telescope. Robert Hooke used a microscope. Antoni Leeuwenhoek discovered microorganisms in the drop of water. The invention of logarithms led to more accurate clocks and optical instruments. Mechanical invention was followed by another step in the development: the industrial revolution.
